INDIANAPOLIS -- Sometimes iconic Indianapolis sports heroes do too much too soon. Sometimes surgery and rest are required.
We’re not talking about Paul George, Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning.
This is Blue III, nicknamed “Trip” (for Triple), mascot of Butler University.
The bulldog, who turns 5 on Dec. 23, is recovering from knee surgery. He was released to caretaker Michael Kaltenmark, the university’s director of external relations.
On social media, the bulldog’s account reported he had “my people” make a chronicle of events leading up to and after Wednesday’s surgery. He had recently taken leave from mascot duties because of the injury.
