INDIANAPOLIS – We have seen the last of Roosevelt Jones’ scoop shots, push shots and floaters.
The former Butler Bulldog, an unconventional forward whose buzzer-beater edged Gonzaga in a 2013 upset, announced Sunday on Twitter that he is retiring as a player because of “unbearable” back pain he has endured for years.
The 6-4 Jones, of O’Fallon, Ill., is 24.
“I play the game 110 percent all the time, and if I’m not able to give that night in and night out, then I am just cheating my teammates,” Jones’ post said.
