5 Butler pitchers combine for no-hitter vs. Purdue

Five Butler pitchers combined for a no-hitter Wednesday as the Bulldogs beat host Purdue 4-2.

Sam Hubbe (3 innings), Quentin Miller (2), Luke Johnson (1 2/3), Jack Pilcher (1/3) and Ottavio Dattolo (2) kept the Boilermakers (26-21) hitless. Purdue's runs came via five hit-by-pitches, two walks and a Bulldogs error.

Part of the reason Butler used so many pitchers was that lightning delayed the game almost 90 minutes in the sixth inning.

Butler (28-17) posted its first no-hitter since 2004.

Michael Hartnagel hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Gehrig Parker had a solo homer in the third.
