Defenders to blame as Burnley wilt under set piece pressure

Burnley's miserable away form continued with another defeat. A 3-1 loss to Southampton was not flattering to the hosts, who could and perhaps should have won by more.

But had they been awarded a penalty for a clear foul on Johann Gudmundsson by Virgil van Dijk in the goalless first half, it could well have been a different story for Sean Dyche's side. Charlie Austin once again came back to haunt his old club, scoring a brace, and he now has four goals in three Premier League games against Burnley.

Positives

The Clarets at least scored in their latest away defeat -- their first goal on the road this season -- but as it came with the score at 3-0 it was too little too late for the visitors.
