Austria are planning to hold talks with Burnley striker Ashley Barnes as they look to call him up to the national team.

The 28-year-old's maternal grandmother was born in Klagenfurt in southern Austria and he has previously represented the nation, playing in an Under 20s tournament in August 2008.

The Austrian FA are keen to bring him into the fold again after his six-goal Premier League season, according to sport director Peter Schottel.
