On Friday, Buffalo Sabres fans had a reason to celebrate, as Anton Wahlberg signed his entry-level contract with the Blue and Gold.
It wasn’t Zach Benson, but Anton Wahlberg, who became the first player to sign with the Buffalo Sabres from the 2023 NHL Draft. Wahlberg, a second round pick just over two weeks ago, signs his entry-level deal one week after I labeled him as a prospect to watch following development camp.
Wahlberg’s size, 6’3, 192 lbs, jumped out at me when Buffalo drafted him, and it made for a perfect complement to the shorter, shiftier Benson.
