Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has been named to Team Finland ahead of the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, per the NHL.
Rosters for the upcoming tournament are being announced piecemeal starting Friday at 3 a.m., with Finland as one of the first to be announced.
The Buffalo Sabres defenseman was one of seven blueliners named to the team, a well-deserved honor after a pretty solid regular season.
Despite the Buffalo Sabres’ struggles this season, Ristolainen was a bright spot on the team, bringing both an offensive and defensive game to the ice.
