Sabres GM Tim Murray disappointed about lottery results

TORONTO – The Buffalo Sabres couldn’t lose. At least that was the prevailing theory heading into the NHL Draft Lottery. But General Manager Tim Murray hardly looked or sounded like a winner Saturday night even though his team will be getting the No. 2 pick and will almost certainly take Boston University star Jack Eichel.

It was plain to see why. Murray wanted Connor McDavid. That was his obsession, the player about whom he told the New York Times last month, “I think too much about him. I wish I could help myself.”

Murray couldn’t help himself after his season-long dream drifted away.
