On Thursday, Dwyane Wade and his mother mother participated in a town hall meeting on gun violence in Chicago, where the NBA star recently signed to play with the Bulls after 13 seasons with the Miami Heat.
The next day, the Wades were victims: Dwayne Wade's 32-year-old cousin, a mother of four, was shot and killed in Chicago while pushing her baby in a stroller.
Nykea Aldridge wasn't the intended target, police said, but she was hit in the head and arm when two men opened fire on another man.
Wade, a native of Chicago, posted on Twitter: "My cousin was killed today in Chicago.
