Sean Marks has been almost universally praised for the job he has done as general manager of the Brooklyn Nets. For the past year and a half, Marks has worked to keep the team flexible with their payroll. The Nets don’t have many cap-clogging deals.

In his first year as general manager, Marks sought out under-the-radar players. In signing these hidden gems, Marks was able to keep the books clear for potential salary dumps to acquire draft picks and other assets.

This summer saw him execute those plans. He was able to nab a franchise point guard in D’Angelo Russell for Timofey Mozgov’s salary.
