Brook Lopez flashes potential to be superstar the Nets need

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — If the Nets are going to be a competitive team this season, they’re going to lean heavily on Brook Lopez.

On Thursday night, he showed he’s capable of shouldering the load.

Going up against Detroit’s Andre Drummond, one of the game’s elite young centers, Lopez put on a clinic, finishing with 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots as the Nets came away with a 93-83 preseason win over the Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

“We played with a lot of confidence,” Lopez said. “We had a lot of energy on the defensive end throughout and we shared the ball well.
