The Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in acquiring Brooklyn Nets star Joe Johnson, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

The Cavs would use the Brendan Haywood contract chip to help facilitate a deal. Haywood has a $10.5 million nonguaranteed contract if waived before Aug. 1.

The Nets would be willing to move Johnson to reduce their tax burden this upcoming season as they are facing paying the repeater tax.

Johnson is the second-highest paid player in the league at $24.
