Jason Kidd isn’t attempting another coup — not yet, at least.
After an onMilwaukee.com report stated the Milwaukee Bucks coach was also expected to be named the team’s head of basketball operations this week — replacing general manager John Hammond — the Bucks released a statement calling the rumor “unequivocally not true.”
Kidd, of course, landed in Milwaukee just over a year ago after a failed power play in Brooklyn, in which he attempted to replace Nets general manager Billy King in the front office. Milwaukee then began discussing a deal with Kidd despite having former coach Larry Drew still under contract, ending with Drew’s firing and the Nets trading Kidd to the Bucks for second-round picks in 2015 and 2019.
