Allendale, Mich. - Bowling Green State University distance runners Rachel Walny and Kelsie Mothersead will compete in the 5,000 Friday at the GVSU Holiday Open. Running events begin at 3:00 pm and the 5,000 follows the preliminary rounds of the 60 hurdles and the 60.
Walny, a redshirt senior, placed sixth in the 5,000 at the MAC Championships a year ago and was an honorable mention All-American during the outdoor season in the 10,000. She holds three of the top four times in program history, with a personal best time of 16:46.27, about six seconds shy of the school record of 16:40.
