'It was like being in a jail’: Pep Guardiola defends Erling Haaland's Bournemouth display as he says striker will learn how to deal with Premier League defences

Pep Guardiola is confident that Erling Haaland will be able to escape the close attention of defenders once Manchester City’s new striker has settled into the Premier League.

Haaland had only eight touches when being tightly marked in City’s 4-0 win against Bournemouth last weekend but his manager is confident that they will work out a way that allows the Norwegian to escape even the closest attention.

‘I was on the touchline and it looked like there was no space for him because Bournemouth were so deep. It was like being in a jail,’ said Guardiola.
