'I was in a dark place': Footballer Harry Arter shares heartbreaking account of his daughter's stillbirth - and says the sadness will never go away

Football ace Harry Arter has spoken candidly for the first time about the tragic still birth of his daughter.

The Bournemouth footballer and partner Rachel Irwin were devastated after baby Renee died in the womb in December 2015.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder, who has since welcomed baby, Raine, with Rachel, admits he was in a 'dark place' in the days, weeks and months after the tragedy.

Writing for The Players' Tribune, Harry, 27, shares a candid account of his experience, describing the numbness he felt when he discovered the tragic news, how the days following were a 'blur of emotion' and how the waves of sadness will 'probably never go away'.
