Bournemouth rescued by another referee named Madley as Bobby's older brother Andy spares blushes for Eddie Howe's side against Wigan

This tie shouldn’t be going to a replay. Wigan should be through and eyeing up a bonanza payday against a big Premier League club. But once again Bournemouth have a referee named Madley to thank for saving their blushes.

Bobby Madley let Bournemouth off the hook on Boxing Day against West Ham when he overruled his assistant to award Calum Wilson’s late goal.

This time, brother Andy came to their rescue at the 11th hour, denying Wigan a penalty for the Cherries to charge up the other end and score in the 92nd minute.

Wigan may be renowned for its meat pies, but they were slapping the error-ridden Bournemouth in the face with those of the custard variety most of the first half.
