Either way — with Dave Roberts or Gabe Kapler — the Red Sox were going to be well-represented in the Dodgers' manager's office next season.
When word came out today that Los Angeles had officially made Roberts its choice, it felt back here as if one of our own sons or daughters had been accepted to a stellar West Coast university.
We couldn't be happier.
After all, Roberts has been first in the heart of Red Sox fans since, after coming from the Dodgers the same day Nomar Garciaparra left in July of 2004, he stole second base in the ninth inning of Game 4 of the ALCS on October 17, 2004.
