For nearly two decades, journalist Gordon Edes has chronicled the Boston Red Sox -- first for The Boston Globe and then ESPNBoston.com. Edes is now ready to bring his "insider" knowledge of the club directly to the organization.
Fenway Sports Group announced Tuesday the hiring of Edes as its strategic communications advisor and Red Sox historian.
Edes will report directly to Red Sox owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner and Mike Gordon, the president of Fenway Sports Group.
"I am deeply gratified and humbled by the good fortune of spending nearly four decades in journalism, especially serving a readership as loyal and discerning as followers of the Red Sox," said Edes.
