Last weekend's series in Baltimore started with Manny Machado's painful slide into Dustin Pedroia, and it ended with Machado being nearly hit in the head by Matt Barnes. Obviously there's the possbility of escalation during this four-game set at Fenway Park, but each clubhouse claims no expectation of carryover.
"I’m past it," Barnes said. "It’s over with. I’m ready to go, coming off a good series win, trying to win another one against a division opponent."
Orioles reliever Zach Britton, who escalated the situation by questioning Pedroia's clubhouse leadership, said Pedroia contacted a veteran Orioles player about those comments, but that there's nothing else to be done or said.
