PAWTUCKET, R.I. — They’re waiting for Sam Travis at Fenway Park. The offseason has made that clear.
Mitch Moreland was signed to play first base, at least part of the time, on a one-year deal. There was no shortage of power-hitting first base options in free agency — heck, there still isn’t.
But Travis, a 23-year-old first baseman with a .303/.364/.453 line in three minor league seasons, looks primed for a 2018 arrival at the latest.
As long as he stays healthy, that is, and Travis yesterday at Triple-A Pawtucket’s McCoy Stadium was raring to go.
