Red Sox keep romping at expense of weaker teams

BOSTON -- When it’s all said and done, the current stretch of games for the Boston Red Sox might be looked upon as the softest portion of their 162-game schedule.

At the very least, the Sox are making the most of their opportunities. Following a 4-1 road trip against struggling Houston and Atlanta clubs, Boston began a span loaded with home games with a 9-4 drubbing of those same hapless Braves on Wednesday at Fenway Park.

Behind 11 hits -- including a grand slam and a solo homer by Dustin Pedroia and three doubles by David Ortiz -- and another solid effort for knuckleballer Steven Wright, the Sox secured their first four-game winning streak of the season.
