Red Sox designate Sean O'Sullivan for assignment

BOSTON – Boston Red Sox right-hander Sean O'Sullivan was designated for assignment following a no-decision Sunday in a 10-9 win over Houston.

O’Sullivan was charged with five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings in his second outing for the Red Sox, who have been shuffling the back end of the rotation and will not need a fifth starter for several days due to upcoming off-days. Manager John Farrell said that a corresponding move will be announced when the team is in Kansas City on Monday, and hinted it will be a hitter.
