Red-hot Jackie Bradley Jr. proving last summer's surge wasn't a fluke

BOSTON -- For one month last summer -- 83 at-bats spread over 25 games from Aug. 9 through Sept. 7, to be as precise as possible -- Jackie Bradley Jr. looked more like Ken Griffey Jr., going on an extra-base-hit binge that was entirely inconsistent with his .196 average in his first two big-league seasons.

This week, the Boston Red Sox center fielder proved it wasn't a fluke.

Beginning last Sunday night in Houston, Bradley has 10 hits in 27 at-bats. Seven of those hits have gone for extra bases, including a double and two triples Saturday night in an 8-0 mauling of the New York Yankees.
