ESPN’s Jessica Mendoza hired as baseball operations adviser by the Mets

Jessica Mendoza has been named a baseball operations adviser for the Mets, the team announced Tuesday, but the former Olympic softball star will remain in her role as an analyst on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball.’’

Mendoza’s role with the Mets will include player evaluation, roster construction, technological advancement, and health and performance.

“I am excited to work with [general manager] Brodie [Van Wagenen] and his team and am thrilled to be associated with the Mets and their storied history,’’ Mendoza said in a statement. “Baseball is a passion of mine and I look forward to expanding on my love for the game.
