Buckley: Farrelly bros unleash pitch

For years, Red Sox fans from Boston to Bangor have been imploring ownership to do the right thing and retire uniform No. 25 of the late Tony Conigliaro.

Now the Red Sox are hearing it from Hollywood.

Filmmakers Bobby and Peter Farrelly, whose hit movies include “There’s Something About Mary,” “Stuck on You,” “The Three Stooges” and “Dumb and Dumber,” are behind a petition drive they hope will inspire the Sox to add No. 25 to Fenway Park’s right field facade, with an optimistic Bobby Farrelly saying, “I think it’s going to happen. The old owners were very stodgy about these kind of things, but I think the new owners are ready to listen.
