Red Sox to give Rick Porcello another start, send Justin Masterson to bullpen

Leading the American League in all the wrong categories, Rick Porcello will get another chance to try to turn his season around before the All-Star break.

Porcello’s last start for the Red Sox on July 1 lasted only two innings when he allowed seven runs to the Blue Jays on Canada Day. With nine losses and a 6.08 ERA, he hasn’t been the pitcher the Sox hoped he could be, but manager John Farrell didn’t see a benefit to removing him from the starting rotation or giving him extended time off.

So Porcello will start on Wednesday at home against the Marlins, his last start before the All-Star break, which begins the following Monday.
