Red Sox Notebook: Xander Bogaerts a big hit

Ryan Hanigan said what everyone else was thinking after Xander Bogaerts hit a walkoff single Friday night: “Xander is hot right now.”

Bogaerts is about as hot as he’s ever been as a major leaguer. The Red Sox shortstop is off to a .366 start to the season, going 15-for-41 with five walks and six strikeouts through his first 10 games. He has the best average of any regular in the lineup, his swing looks fluid and he is using a patient approach that the coaches marveled over in the 2013 postseason when he helped the Sox win the World Series.
