MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – St. John's softball team used a four-run fourth inning to propel the Red Storm to a 6-3 win over Boston College Friday afternoon at the Madeira Beach Tournament in Madeira Beach, Fla.
BC totaled seven hits on the afternoon, including home runs from Gianna Boccagno and Emme Martinez.
A fielder's choice RBI for St. John's in the first opened the scoring for the Red Storm. BC would tie the game at one in the second as Boccagno belted her team-leading fourth homer of the season.
St. John's scored four in the fourth on two hits, including a bases loaded double by Christina Melendez to put the Red Storm in front 5-1.
