Celtics set new NBA record thanks to Kristaps Porzingis’ latest honor

Kristaps Porzingis seems to be rounding into form just ahead of the Celtics’ promising playoff push for Banner 18.

Boston’s big man was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for April 1-7, averaging 19.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game over a perfect 4-0 slate for the Celtics.

It’s an impressive accomplishment for the 28-year-old Porzingis, who missed five straight games last month while recovering from a hamstring strain.

But Porzingis’ accolade also etched the 2023-24 Celtics into the NBA record books. Porzingis became the fourth Celtics player to win Player of the Week this season.
