Vocal Wendell Smallwood could be important for West Virginia

Wendell Smallwood is growing into more of a leadership role, writes Bob Hertzel for The Exponent Telegram.

Smallwood, a junior running back, is West Virginia's top playmaking threat. He leads the squad with 128.3 yards from scrimmage per game, including 113 rushing yards per game and a 6.54 yards per carry average.

As the Mountaineers look to rebound following a winless October, Smallwood's leadership qualities are starting to emerge.
