Editor's note: This is the second of a five-part series examining issues surrounding the 2019 Baylor Bears.

One of the Bears' biggest problems in 2018 was protecting the quarterback.

Baylor allowed a conference-high 39 sacks for a loss of 241 yards. On most possessions, Charlie Brewer either had to get rid of the ball in less than three seconds or scramble. The Bears were lucky Brewer didn't sustain a significant injury last year, as he often got hit hard in the backfield and sometimes tossed around like a rag doll.

One of the clearest examples of this was when Brewer took six sacks in the loss to Oklahoma, a team not exactly known for its stellar defense.
