On Sunday, the Tides struck early, with a first-inning Billy Cook homer to follow a Kyle Stowers walk. Then they also struck late, with six runs in the fifth inning and after. Catcher Maverick Handley hit a second Tides home run in the fifth to make it 3-2 Norfolk. Memphis quickly tied the game up off Tides starter Cade Povich, but Coby Mayo (#3) took the baton, homering to put the Tides up 4-3.
Then, in the seventh, the Tides raced ahead for good. More firepower: Shayne Fontana homered to right.
