Orioles improve wild-card standing during Monday's day off

While the Orioles rested and watched the presidential debate Monday night, they improved their position in the American League wild-card race.

The Orioles, who face three games at Toronto and three at New York to end the season, are just one game behind the Blue Jays for the top wild-card spot. Baltimore holds a two-game lead for the second spot.

On Monday, the Blue Jays lost to the Yankees, 7-5; the Detroit Tigers lost to the Cleveland Indians, 7-4; and the Seattle Mariners beat the Houston Astros, 4-3.
