Dan Duquette has made it clear that upgrading the Orioles rotation is one of his top priorities this offseason. The Orioles executive vice president has also said the club likely won’t be in the running for one of the free-agent pitching gems, but could get one or two arms from the next tier of available starters.
One of the free agents who would fit in that category is right-hander Yovani Gallardo. The Orioles have reached out to Gallardo to express interest in the 29-year-old free agent, according to an industry source.
Gallardo had a strong season pitching in hitter-friendly Texas this past season, going 13-11 with a 3.
