Orioles Draft 2012 review: All hope rides on Kevin Gausman

In the first draft of the Dan Duquette regime, the Orioles picked Kevin Gausman #4 overall. Maybe that's finally starting to pay off.

For a while in the dark days of the Orioles, the draft was an annual excuse to imagine a better future for a couple of days at least. By virtue of being bad every year, they picked high up in the draft every year.

The 2012 draft was the first time that this escapism was not needed. The Orioles were six games over .500 at 30-24 and they were only a game out of first place in the division when the draft began.
