Orioles call up righty Crichton, DFA Drake

TORONTO -- The Orioles made a move to bolster their bullpen on Thursday evening, adding right-hander Stefan Crichton from Triple-A Norfolk. In a corresponding move, right-hander Oliver Drake was designated for assignment.

Baltimore is in Toronto, for the first time since last season's American League Wild Card Game, for a four-game series.

"I think it's going to be a really good, in the long term, really good for Oliver, too -- there's a human aspect of that," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "[Crichton] deserves an opportunity to pitch on a consistent basis. [Drake will] end up in the Major Leagues, too, shortly, and keep going down the path with his career.
