The announcement that the Mars Super Market chain will cease operations on July 31 is bad news for employees, loyal shoppers and, believe it or not, nocturnal Orioles fans.

Mars has been a sponsor of the Orioles postgame "Wall-to-Wall Baseball" show hosted by Tom Davis and Dave Johnson, whose old school, live commercial for the 13-store chain became a much-anticipated highlight for bargain-hunting fans.

Johnson and Davis read off bargains from the Mars circular each night, which has subjected them to some needling from their colleagues in the press box, but has become a must-listen for a lot of fans.
