Orioles pregame notes on Chris Tillman, Steve Pearce and the impact of the Jays-Tigers deal

Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman turned his right ankle running off the mound to cover first base in the ninth inning of the team’s 2-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday at Camden Yards.

Tillman was one out away from throwing his second career complete-game shutout, but was removed after giving up a two-out double to Cameron Maybin in the ninth.

On the play before that, Tillman ran off the mound to cover first base on Nick Markakis’ grounder to the right side that deflected off first baseman Chris Parmelee’s glove to second baseman Jonathan Schoop, who threw to Tillman at first for the out.
