It did not take long for new Indiana basketball recruit Damezi Anderson to become an unofficial recruiter for coach Archie Miller’s staff.

His target: Robert Phinisee.

The 6-6 Anderson, ranked No. 91 nationally on the 247sports composite list, reached out to the McCutcheon point guard almost immediately after committing to Indiana on Monday. Phinisee, ranked No. 114 in the country, has yet to cut his list but could make a decision on his college destination by the end of August.

“He talked about being an in-state player and bring a national championship to IU,” Phinisee said of his talk with Anderson, a star at South Bend Riley.
