PARKER CITY, Ind. — He didn't want to get his hopes up.
Xavier McMillian, a senior at Ball State, has been named the new volleyball coach at Monroe Central. Former coach Kyle Garrett stepped away from the program to spend more time with his newborn son.
He applied for the job and interviewed, but didn't think he would actually get the position.
"I was definitely shocked," he said. "But, it makes me excited for the future. I didn't think I was the top candidate, I'm young, and I this will be the first program I run completely on my own.
