'Showtime' returns to Central as the Bearcats boys basketball coach, just 29 years after he led them to a state title.
MUNCIE, Ind. — In the midst of a professional career spanning five countries and two decades, Chandler Thompson has always kept his alma mater near and dear. He followed Central basketball as he was chasing his own dreams that began on the playgrounds in Muncie and continued into the Muncie Fieldhouse and what is now called Worthen Arena.
When Thompson was playing professionally in Italy, he would email Central teacher Kay Rankin motivational messages to give to the basketball team.
