INDIANAPOLIS – Alexander Rossi is going to enjoy coming back to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the monthlong spectacle that is the buildup to the Indianapolis 500.

Not just because he’s the reigning champion but because this time, he will be able to soak in the madness and enjoy it.

Last year, as a rookie driving the IMS oval for the first time, Rossi came here simply “to try and drive a race car as fast as I possibly could.

“Now I’m coming back doing the same thing but having a huge understanding and respect for what this place means and the little things that go into it and the people who have been here and a part of the fabric of this race,” said the Andretti-Herta driver, who was at IMS on Wednesday to receive his ring for winning the 100th running of the 500.
