Rosberg takes pole in rain-shortened qualifying

Nico Rosberg will start from pole position at the U.S. Grand Prix after a curtailed qualifying session on Sunday morning saw him top the times at the end of Q2 when the session was red flagged.

Saturday's persistent rain spilled into Sunday morning, resulting in soaking wet conditions for the start of the session that started to worsen towards the end of the qualifying hour. The top-ten shootout was called off as a result, meaning the grid was decided by the times set in Q2, with Rosberg just over a tenth of a second quicker than team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
