Virginia Derby Grimes named 2018 U.S. Curtis Cup Captain

Former Auburn women’s golf coach and player Virginia Derby Grimes has been named captain of the 2018 USA Curtis Cup Team, the United States Golf Association announced Thursday.

Derby Grimes, who played for Auburn from 1985-86 and was the team’s head coach from 1991-94, has been recognized as one of the world’s top amateur women’s golfers. She was a member of the 1998, 2000 and 2006 USA Curtis Cup Teams and owns a 4-0-1 record in foursomes, tied for the second-best record in Curtis Cup history. She is one of 10 women on either side to go undefeated while playing in at least four foursomes (alternate-shot) matches.
