For Peter Holoda, a sophomore on the Auburn swimming team, his journey to swimming would be considered the route less taken by most of his teammates. He was born with scoliosis, an irregular curvature of the spine, and to combat it he was told he had two choices - he could either get in the pool or ride horses. Fortunately for the swimming community, and more specifically Auburn, the now 6-foot-4, 198 lbs., 20-year-old is scared of horses.

“I was born with scoliosis so I had to start swimming because it helped me with my back,” Holoda said.
