After the Auburn Tigers' offense had an inconsistent outing against the Kansas State Wildcats last Thursday, head coach Gus Malzahn and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee pushed the offense to up the energy level in practice.

It worked.

"We’ve challenged our players and they responded," Malzahn said, via Charles Goldberg of AuburnTigers.com.

"Any time you can get the attention of a group to improve, it's a positive thing," he said. "Our players know we didn't play our best, and they know we didn't execute our best."

Tuesdays and Wednesday's practices featured a Tigers team operating with renewed vigor - something that Malzahn noticed straight off.

"The last two days, if you could combine those, are probably two of the better, if not two of the best practice days we’ve had," he said. "We’ve challenged our players and they responded. I think that’s a real positive as far as that goes. We had some physical practices and like I have said all along, just kind of get back to the basics offensively, defensively, and special teams."
