How good are the Braves?

“Good” is a weird concept. It’s both objective or subjective, depending on the speaker and the context in which it is used. Moreover, when you’re talking about a team in the middle of a baseball season, present tense throws another spanner into the works — how good a team is may not be reflect of how good it will be when the season’s arbitrarily-but-consistently-defined 162-game endpoint arrives.

The Braves, in particular, are an interesting instance of the way “good” can be weird. That’s not to say that they aren’t “good.” They are.
