Steve Bruce is to meet up with Jose Mourinho to discuss a permanent deal for goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
Johnstone is on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United and has impressed in recent weeks conceding just one goal in his last six games.
Bruce wants to sign the 24-year-old for next season and Villa are willing to offer around £3million.
United have rejected offers fo £2million before from other Championship sides.
United value Johnstone highly though and may not be willing to let him go just yet and Bruce remains open to another season loan if necessary.
