Former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein has accused Mikel Arteta of damaging the Gunners' image and has insisted he would have disciplined the manager after his furious VAR rant.

Arteta launched into a stinging tirade after his side's 1-0 loss to Newcastle, and fumed at VAR's dealing with Anthony Gordon's winning goal.

The Gunners' boss labelled VAR 'embarrassing' and an 'absolute disgrace' after they seemingly missed three potential issues during the build up to the goal.

Arsenal reacted by releasing a statement in support of their Spanish manager, but Dein has revealed he would have done things differently.
